They aim to demystify cancer treatment, providing resources and support to enhance patient care and accessibility through comprehensive information and community support.
A seasoned Obstetrician and Gynaecological Surgeon with two decades of experience, Dr. Jackson combines his medical, research, and lifescience business expertise to empower patients in their healthcare choices. As a melanoma patient himself and a recipient of successful immunotherapy, he brings invaluable insight into patient experiences in immuno-oncology.
An accomplished leader in drug development and clinical translational leadership, Rakesh Verma has a profound understanding of immuno-oncology. His significant contributions to the field, including his role in the ARMO Biosciences and Eli Lilly merger, highlight his commitment to fast-tracking patient care.
Dr. Dawes' extensive background in academic family medicine, genetics, and evidence-based healthcare, combined with his leadership in optimising cancer care diagnostics, makes him a pivotal member of our team. His role as founder and director of GenXys reflects his dedication to personalised patient care. In 2020 he had gamma knife surgery for stage four melanoma brain tumour, and immunotherapy for multiple lung lesions. He has been in remission since November 2022.
Sean Hodgins is a seasoned CPA-CA, with over two decades in finance and accounting, working extensively in the healthcare industry in Canada and the U.S. His experience includes finance roles in companies like LumiCyte (acquired by Qiagen), Protox Therapeutics, Med Biogene, MetaOptima, Optigo and Medicenna, showcasing his expertise in guiding health tech firms in some instances from early concept to public company.
Dr. Mark Carey is a practicing Gynecologic Oncologist and clinician scientist in British Columbia. Dr. Carey's research expertise includes predictive biomarkers in cancer, molecular cancer diagnosis and therapeutics, and clinical trials. His medical administrative experience includes chief of medical staff and he has served on Foundation and Hospital Boards. He has supported his own cancer research laboratory to improve patient outcomes particularly for rare gynecological cancers. He is pleased to work with Dr. Jackson and this team to provide more and better treatment options for cancer patients.
Dr. David Zayonc is a family doctor and hospitalist in White Rock, BC. Having worked as a chiropractor for many years, he sent back to medical school in his early 40’s. Having a passion for patient care, he has worked tirelessly in supportive patients with their health needs.
He was diagnosed with glioblastoma in December 2023. He has a keen interest in advocating for all cancer patients with a particular focus on brain tumors.
